When to go

Located in the Atlantic Ocean just on the eastern edge of the Caribbean, Barbados is home to white beaches and lush gardens, however, the one thing that probably stands out the most is the easy going attitude of its residents. While the island does have a tortured history of slavery, it has moved beyond that aspect and become one of the most developed countries in the Americas. How to get there

If you're flying into Barbados, you'll be greeted by the Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI), which is approximately eight miles from Bridgetown. Keep in mind that airline ticket prices are dictated by demand, so going during the off season is preferable. A second option is on a cruise ship and if youre only stopping in Barbados for less than 24-hours, you wont need a passport.

Barbados is a land of culinary delight and as such, its easy to find a place to eat around nearly every corner. One of the best places to find an extraordinary meal is at The Restaurant at Southsea (St. Lawrence Gap, Christ Church). Considered one of the top 66 restaurants in the world by the Conde Nast Traveler, The Southsea features creative dishes from an international menu. If you're in the mood for Asian inspired cuisine, Tamnak Thai and Apsara restaurant (Morecambe House Worthing, Christ Church) features authentic Indian and Thai cuisine in a lavishly appointed building that features landscaped gardens.
