When to go

In Jamaica, you're surrounded by a cheap - even free - place to spend time: the beach. The beaches of Jamaica are a huge part of the reason most people come here, and they are simply out of this world. Revolve the majority of your trip around relaxing on the beach and you'll get rejuvenated without spending too much cash.

How to get there

Mexico City International Airport is probably the busiest and most expansive airport in the country of Mexico. Many tourists find cheap airfare deals going into and out of that airport, and therefore make it their "home base" of sorts when venturing off to explore this fascinating country. Large airports can also be found in several other major Mexican cities, including Veracruz, Tijuana, Monterrey, Mazatlan, Guadalajara and many others. Basically, if you're determined to find low priced airline tickets, you're sure to find them. Keep in mind, too, that car deals abound at all of the major Mexican airports.

Driving into Mexico from the United States can be an ordeal, depending on where you come in at. Regardless of where you cross the border, though, you should be prepared to produce a passport and a photo ID. In some cases, a search may be conducted. The major problem with drug smuggling has made crossing the border into Mexico rather trying, but it's not always a terrible experience. Just remember that you might be there for a while.

Where to stay

Although there are many remote parts of Mexico where regular hotel accommodations are scarce, hotel deals are plentiful in all of the major tourist cities. A topnotch luxury hotel in Mexico City, for instance, is the W Mexico City (Campos Eliseos 252 Chapultepec, Mexico City), which combines excellent amenities with incredibly appointed rooms. In Cancun, a nice mid-range hotel would be the Park Royal Cancun (Blvd Kukulcan Km 12 5, Cancun), which is a reasonably priced resort. Finally, you can take advantage of cheap accommodations while in Puerto Vallarta by staying at Hotel Suites La Siesta (689 Miramar Street, Puerto Vallarta), which is pretty bare bones but clean and pleasant.

What to do

Beaches are a huge part of the allure of Mexico. Whether you choose Los Cabos, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco - or any number of other prime spots - you'll be sure to have a phenomenally unforgettable time. Laying out on the beach is also a cheap way to enjoy yourself in this compelling country. Experience unbelievable ruins at Chichen Itza, which is an ancient Mayan city that you can explore at your own leisure. Finally, take in some of the best museums in Mexico by visiting its capital, Mexico City.

Where to eat

It seems like everybody loves Mexican food, so your taste buds are in for a veritable treat when you travel around this country. In Mexico City, stop in at the Cafe la Opera (Cinco de Mayo 10, Mexico City), an authentic Mexican restaurant that's been open since around 1900. In Cancun, head over to Cambalache (Blvd. Kukulcán Km 9, Cancun) for delectable Argentinian cuisine. Finally, in Guadalajara stop at La Chata (Corona 126 South of Juarez, Guadalajara) for traditional Mexican cuisine for a cheap price.

Plaza de la Constitucion

You do not need to spend a lot of pesos to have a grand time in Mexico. If you are going to visit Mexico City, for instance, why not stroll around one of the largest squares in the world? Indeed, the Plaza de la Constitucion is a massive place where the people watching is exceptional and where you can find plenty of inexpensive places to eat and drink.
